Bottom line is I only go to the "golf domes" in
the winter because there is no other realistic
option in the Chicago area during that time.
Otherwise there is no real advantage to playing
indoors because the conditions are not realistic
(you can't make a golf dome 300 yards long).

I guess in Jacksonville the climate control could
be an advantage.

The essential thing about the indoor practice
which I absolutely recommend is that there is
unlimited play, you pay by the hour, not per
ball. It still comes out to be more expensive
than a regular range but it makes the price seem
justified.

Other ways in which an indoor facility can
compete with the regular range are:

Have a chipping and putting area

Have a golf simulator with swing-analysis
software. This would also require having a pro to
analyze the swings. It's a big perk compared to
outdoor ranges almost none of which have a
simulator.
