Flagg Creek opened in 1993 after the park district purchased the property. Maple Crest lost six holes when I-294 was expanded and became a 12-hole course. When the park district purchased the property, they created a nine hole course with a grass/matt driving range.

While there was an existing course to work with, the new Flagg Creek Golf Course was actually re-routed almost the opposite direction as the original course.

When I visited the course, I saw a wide array of golfers. There were a number of young golfers and a number of families.

The driving range has grass tees, but they are only used on weekends. There are 25 stations for practicing. Flagg Creek also changed the grass on the course from blue grass to the more accepted and better bent grass. Flagg Creek also has a full-service kitchen for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Flagg Creek, a par 33 course, plays to 2,492 yards from the blue tees, 2,178 yards from the white tees and 1,835 yards from the red tees.

If you are looking for a great place to practice or play on you way up, or down, I-294, stop off at Flagg Creek. If you are coming off of I-294 from the south, get off on Wolf Road and take a right. If you are coming from the north, get off on I-55 South to Joliet Road east to Wolf Road.
