Up until now, we at GolfChicago.com have avoided serving pop-up ads to our visitors.
We don't like them, so we assume you don't like them. However, most of the revenue
rates for regular banner advertising have dropped significantly over the past few
years -- forcing us to use them if we want to keep GolfChicago.com afloat as the
best source on the internet for golf related information in the Chicagoland area.
We have added a 'tip jar' option to GolfChicago.com for those visitors who wish to
avoid seeing pop-up ads. On average, if every person who uses this site at least three
times per golf season would donate $0.65, we could eliminate pop-up ads on this site --
serving up only the ads that you find interesting in the first place, such as Chalet Hills
and Eagle Ridge. If we find that the 'tip jar' exceeds our goals of eliminating pop-up
ads, we will donate excess funds to golf related non-profit organizations, such as the USGA
or the Evans Scholar Foundation.
