BMW Championship Ticket Special at Golf Show
by: Web Master - 1/29/2009 8:20:07 PM
GOLF, IL (Jan. 29, 2009) – Golf fans ready to forget about sub-freezing temperatures and a record winter for snowfall in Chicago will find at least one heart-warming bargain at the Feb. 6-8 Golf Show at the Schaumburg Convention Center. For fans in attendance at the golf show only, the BMW Championship is offering a two-for-one ticket offer on all Any Day tickets and Weekly Badges.

The BMW Championship – the third event in the PGA TOUR Playoffs – is returning this year to Cog Hill Golf & Country Club, Lemont, Ill., for the week of Sept. 7-13 after moving to Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis in 2008.

When the PGA TOUR’s top players arrive in September, a new more challenging championship course will be awaiting them thanks to a year-long renovation project by famed architect Rees Jones on Cog Hill’s Dubsdread course in 2008.

“We’re excited about coming back to Cog Hill and holding the championship on the newly- renovated Dubsdread,” said John Kaczkowski, Western Golf Association vice president of tournaments. “Rees Jones and the Jemsek family did an excellent job of making changes that will further improve the challenge and playability of what already was one of the finest championship golf courses on the PGA TOUR.”

The Golf Show special ticket offer will allow fans at the show to purchase two Any Day tickets (good any one day Thursday through Sunday) for the $45 price of one ticket, and two Weekly Badges for the $150 price of one badge. A $10 processing fee will apply, and tickets will be shipped this spring. The offer is not applicable to practice round tickets, group packages or hospitality options.

“Our special Golf Show offer is our way of thanking the Chicago area golf community for its past support of our championship as we return to Cog Hill,” Kaczkowski said.

In addition to the two-for-one offer, fans at the Golf Show will be invited to enter a contest to win a BMW Championship Fan Pack. Valued at $800, the Pack includes: two Wadley Suite Hospitality Tickets for a day of the winner’s choice, inclusive of food and beverages, a VIP parking pass and a BMW Gift Bag with BMW Championship merchandise. One grand prize winner will be selected at the conclusion of the Golf Show and notified by e-mail.

Also, one pair of Any Day tickets will be awarded through a daily drawing, again with winners to be notified by e-mail.

In 2008 in St. Louis, only weekly tickets were available. This year, single day tickets are being sold and will not be restricted to specific days of the championship, as was the case in 2007, the first year of the BMW Championship.

“We’ve brought back our any-day ticket option from 2006 and eliminated daily tickets, making it more convenient for our fans, so they can pick whatever day fits their schedule rather than being restricted to one particular day,” said Kaczkowski.

The $150 weekly badges allow entrance into the tournament grounds and clubhouse each day of the tournament, Monday-Sunday.

The weekly badge is the most cost-effective option for the avid golf fan, with a $60 savings over the cost of buying individual tickets for each day.

Several new ticket packages have also been added that include various combinations of tickets and discounts (Par, Birdie and Par Packages) and are designed to appeal to smaller businesses wishing to entertain without investing in a full hospitality package.
