Destination Kohler Opens Kohler Golf Academy

KOHLER, Wis. - The Hospitality and Real Estate group of Kohler Co. recently opened the Kohler Golf Academy at Blackwolf Run and Whistling Straits golf venues. The newly created academy offers a variety of schools taught by twelve certified instructors who tailor programs for players of all abilities.

"Kohler is the perfect destination for a golf academy," said Ji Kim, master instructor at the Kohler Golf Academy. "The golf course settings we offer, coupled with instructing individualized programs, leave no doubt that the Kohler Golf Academy will compete with the best schools in the country."

The Kohler Golf Academy is open April through September and offers golf instruction schools including:

§ One-Day School - Focuses on full swing and short game work in a highly personalized, segmented practice schedule.

§ Two-Day Basic Training - Complete full swing instruction, plus additional practice and reinforcement on the short game in an intense, comprehensive program.

§ Three-Day Intermediate School -Three-days of all-around comprehensive golf instruction, on-course play and valuable on-course instruction.

§ Four-Day School - All around comprehensive golf instruction.

§ One-Day Short Game School - Five hours of total instruction focusing on the short game. Covers all aspects, pitching, chipping, bunker, putting, lob shots - from within 80 yards. Includes an in-depth study of personal putting game, including long, short and pressure putts.

§ Two- Day Short Game School - Eight hours of total instruction focusing on the short game. In a two day session, this school covers all aspects of the game - pitching, chipping, bunker, putting, lob shots -from within 80 yards. Includes an in-depth study of personal putting game, including long, short and pressure putts.

§ Three-Day Short Game School - Twelve hours of total instruction focusing on the short game. In a three-day session, this school covers all aspects of the game - pitching, chipping, bunker, putting, lob shots - from within 80 yards. Includes an in-depth study of your putting game, including long, short and pressure putts.

§ Custom School - Instructors will customize a golf school to focus on the individual's game. Students decide how many hours per day and type of instruction with golf professionals. Special attention paid to individual needs, as determined by the student.

Schools are offered from a one-hour private lesson to a 16-hour comprehensive golf program and can be custom designed for each particular golfer. Each school includes a range of training from classroom and workbooks to Swing Solutions video analysis and playing an acclaimed Kohler golf course venue. Kohler Golf Academy prices begin at $480 per student.

Master Golf Instructor: Ji Kim joined Kohler Co. in April as master golf instructor at Blackwolf Run and Whistling Straits and head of the Kohler Golf Academy. He most recently worked as a certified master instructor at the Jim McLean Golf School at the Doral Golf Resort and Spa, Miami, Florida. He offers an impressive background as he has served as a senior instructor at the Hank Haney Golf Ranch in Austin, TX, and spent three seasons as director of instruction under Craig Harmon at Oak Hill Golf and Country Club, Rochester, NY (site of the 1995 Ryder Cup Matches).

Kim has trained extensively with British Open Champion Bill Rogers as well as worked with numerous touring professionals and top amateurs. Kim is an excellent golf player and holds a third place professional finish in the Venezuela Open in 1998.

The Kohler Golf Academy is located at Blackwolf Run in the Village of Kohler, 55 miles north of Milwaukee, 135 miles north of Chicago and 60 miles south of Green Bay.
